Affect or Effect?

Now I find that some of us struggle when it comes to the usage of these two words. A little pointers for you so that you won’t get confused anymore!

Five things to remember, people.

Effect means cause; bring about. Example: He effected a change of plans.

Effect means result. Example: What effect did his promotion have on the staff?

Affect means influence. Example: Do the dim lights affect the way you drive?

Affect means emotional expression. Example: He showed little affect when he was sentenced.

Simple enough? :)
